Understanding the Angels of God
“But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?”
Hebrews 1:13-14
Angels are spiritual and heavenly beings created by God. They are ministering spirits commissioned by God to serve His purpose and people on earth. Angels are part of the invisible creatures of God. The Bible says, “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him.”
Colossians 1:16
One remarkable thing we must know and understand about angels is the fact that they are immortal. Angels are made to last for ever. They cannot die! Angels are innumerable! That means they cannot be numbered! “But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels.”
Hebrews 12:22
Let’s consider 5 characteristics of Angels:
1. Angels are Wise!
“To fetch about this form of speech hath thy servant Joab done this thing: and my lord is wise, according to the wisdom of an angel of God, to know all things that are in the earth.”
2 Samuel 14: 20
2. Angels are Powerful!
“Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.”
Psalms 103:20
3. Angels can incarnate in human form at times!
“And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground.”
Genesis 18:2
4. Angels possess emotions!
“Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.”
Luke 15:10
5. Angels are organised in ranks!
“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:”
1 Thessalonians 4:16
I decree and declare that you will enjoy the ministry of angels in Jesus mighty name.
