The Miracle working Power
“And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.”
Until we are full of faith and power like Stephen, we cannot do great wonders and miracles in our generation. Power is an indisputable tool or instrument to doing great signs, wonders and miracles. Concerning the Apostles, we are told that as they went about preaching the Word, God Himself went with them, confirming their message by signs, wonders and various miracles. The Bible says, “God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?”
In Acts 2:22, our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God Himself was approved by miracles which God did through Him. Also in Acts 15:12, Barnabas and Paul became agents of the miraculous as God worked miracles and wonders through them. Even Apostle Paul became a special miracle worker, as handkerchiefs and aprons were taken from his body to heal the sick and to deliver the oppressed. The Bible says, “And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.”
Now let’s consider 3 important ways to engage the miracle working Power:
1. Gift of the Holy Spirit
“To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:”
1 Corinthians 12:10
Miracles are possible by the miracle working gift of the Holy Spirit of God.
No man can trigger miracles by his whims and caprices! Until we are endowed with the gift to do miracles, we cannot do miracles. To do miracles, we must be gifted by the Holy Spirit, therefore, we must earnestly covet the Gift or unction for the miraculous!
2. Power of Faith
“Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.”
We can engage the miracle working Power by the instrumentality of Faith. Miracles are possible on the basis of our faith, as all things, (miracles included) are possible if we dare believe. Miracles are done not by works of the law but by faith. Apostle Paul said, “He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
3. Name of Jesus
“Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.”
In this passage, the miraculous healing occurred by the engagement of the name of Jesus. There is power in the name of Jesus to command outstanding miracles. The power in the name of Jesus is usually invoked by faith. There was this fellow in Mark 9:38-39, who was not even a known follower of Jesus but engaged the name of Jesus in faith to perform miracles: “And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us. But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.”
I decree and declare that you will become an agent of the miraculous forthwith in Jesus mighty name!
