Price of Dedication
Out of the spoils won in battles did they dedicate to maintain the house of the LORD.”
1 Chronicles 26:27
Just as spoils or plunders, in this passage under review, were dedicated for the maintenance of the house of the Lord, so also we must seek to dedicate ourselves to God and His kingdom. In Romans 12, Apostle Paul enjoined us to offer or dedicate our bodies to God for His service.
What is Dedication?
Dedication is the quality of being dedicated or committed to a task, person, cause or purpose.
It is a commitment, it is an agreement to be obligated or emotionally impelled to someone or something. As Christians, we are meant to be dangerously dedicated to Christ unashamedly. Do you know that every person is dedicated or devoted to one thing or the other? For instance, while some people are dedicated to their jobs; others are dedicated to sports or entertainment. It is not uncommon for them to devote their time and resources to the object of their devotion.
Let’s consider 3 factors that will enhance dedication:
1. Resolute Decision
“O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory.”
Until your heart is fixed to serve God, you will never be dedicated to Him.
Dedication is a function of resolute decision. Make up your mind for God voluntarily, you mustn’t be coerced to be dedicated to Him.
2. Pure Love
“And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free.”
Pure Love is one of the sure-fire ways of showing dedication to someone or something. We will definitely commit or dedicate ourselves to the person we love. Pure Love for God makes us love slaves! We are willing to give up our freedom to serve Him.
3. Perfect Heart
“Let your heart therefore be perfect with the LORD our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.”
1 Kings 8:61
Perfect heart in this context is self sacrificing commitment! It takes a heart that is perfectly sold out to God to be dedicated. Apostle Paul is our perfect example of an individual who is sold to Christ. He said, “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”
To him, dedication is about his self-sacrificing devotion to Christ.
I decree and declare that you will be dedicated to God and His cause in Jesus mighty name.
