Praying the Jabez Prayer
“And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.”
1 Chronicles 4:10
The story of Jabez is a remarkable story. It is a story of a man who changed his status or story through heartfelt and fervent prayers. The God who answered his prayers is still alive and He is interested in answering us if we pray like he did.
Jabez prayed for God’s blessings!
There are blessings and there are blessings! Jabez prayed for the “blessing indeed” not just “any how” kind of blessing! His prayers were special and specific!
Let’s consider some facts about the Jabez prayer model:
1. Jabez had a relationship with God!
He knew the God of Israel personally, no wonder he could call on Him. His
faith or trust in God procured his blessings! Do you have a personal relationship with God? Don’t forget that we can only become the children of God via Jesus Christ! The Bible says, “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.”
Galatians 3:26
And because of Jesus Christ we are entitled to God’s special blessings. The Bible tells us that since we are His children, we will share His treasures–for everything God gives to His Son, Jesus Christ, is ours, too. Why? Because we are joint heirs with Jesus Christ!
2. Jabez prayed for enlargement!
The truth is that God is interested in our enlargements. He is interested in expanding our territory, our business and what have you, as such, we can boldly come before Him and place a demand for expansion like Jabez.
3. Jabez prayed for preservation!
He prayed that God should keep him from evil. Preservation is about being kept safe from harm or injury. It is about being protected and kept alive.
In these days of unusual demonic operations, we sure need His preservation. God remains our Preserver. There is nothing wrong in you praying that God should preserve your going out and your coming in! The Bible says, “The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.”
Psalms 121:7-8
I decree and declare that as you pray the Jabez model prayers, you too will experience a turn around and change of status blessings in Jesus mighty name.
Yours sincerely,
