Glorifying God in your Workplace
“Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God; And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;”
There are qualities that distinguish Christian workers from non-christian workers. In this passage, a Christian worker is enjoined to obey his or her
earthly masters or bosses. True Christian workers must seek at all times to please their bosses, not just when they are watching them. Their work or service must be sincerely done with a view to pleasing or glorifying God. They are to work willingly at whatever they do, as though they were working for the Lord rather than for men. As their attitude or disposition to work is of paramount importance to God. Do you see your job as a blessing from God? If you do, you will not treat your job with levity. Punctuality is one way to show that you are pleased with your job. No one will take you seriously if you are a perennial latecomer. You don’t glorify God or impact your fellow workers positively by coming late to the office.
3 ways to glorify God in your Workplace:
1. The way of Kindness
“Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;”
Kindness is a true quality or attribute of a true Christian worker! Without kindness, we cannot please or glorify God in our workplace. We are to be kind to those we work with. When we are asked to do something, we must do it cheerfully without grumbling or murmuring. It is kindness to help a colleague who is in need of assistance. It is kindness to be good to everyone by sharing things with them.
2. The way of Faithfulness
“Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.”
1 Corinthians 4:2
One outstanding quality that separates a Christian worker from non-christian workers is faithfulness.
Being faithful is about being loyal and committed to your boss or the vision and mission of your ministry or organisation. Make a difference in your office by becoming a top notcher when it comes to faithfulness. If you are not faithful, your boss will never recommend you for promotion. God will always be glorified when you showcase faithfulness in your workplace.
3. The way of Self control
“He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.”
Self control is about you gaining control over your spirit or emotion. It is about bringing your fleshly desires under control. Being self controlled is the very foundation for living a life of influence or impact in the office. If you are wired with self control by the help of the Holy Spirit, you will not defraud or steal from your organisation. The quality of self control will not allow you to burn with lust in your hearts for a colleague! Don’t forget it was the quality of self control or discipline that made Joseph to run away from a seductive woman, Potiphar’s wife! Joseph pleased and glorified God via the quality of self control, you too can glorify God by self control.
I decree and declare that you will be empowered to glorify God in your workplace always in Jesus mighty name.
