Enjoying Divine Defence
“My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart.”
Psalms 7:10
Defence is an action that is taken to protect someone or something against attack. In our context, divine defence is a deliberate action by God to defend His children from attacks or threats. Most nations of the world spend so much money to defend their citizens against attacks, that’s why their defence budget is usually very high compared to education or agriculture budgets. The Bible tells us that “money is a defence”, hence wealthy countries like USA, China, Russia, Britain, France and Israel are top spenders when it comes to defence expenditure. Israel as a nation has been enjoying divine defence from time immemorial. The Bible says, “As birds flying, so will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver it; and passing over he will preserve it.”
Isaiah 31:5
If not for God who has been on the side of His people, Israel would have become extinct. God has been their Rock of defence, protecting and preserving them and their city, Jerusalem from enemy forces. The God of Israel is not asleep. Be rest assured that He will defend you and all yours too. All you have to do is to wait upon Him. The Bible says, “Because of his strength will I wait upon thee: for God is my defence.”
Psalms 59:9
Deliberately make the Lord your rock of defence and refuge in these perilous days. Surely, you shall not be moved if the Lord is your defence.
“He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.”
Psalm 62:2
Let’s consider 3 Instruments of divine defence:
1. Angels
“For I will defend this city, to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake. And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.”
2 Kings 19:34-35
2. Name of the Lord
“The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee;”
Psalms 20:1
“The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.”
Proverbs 18:10
3. Prayer
“Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me.”
Psalms 59:1
I decree and declare that you will continually enjoy divine defence in Jesus mighty name.
Yours sincerely,
