Early Morning Prayer Pays
“Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.”
Psalms 143:8
Engaging in early morning prayer pays! It pays a great dividend to any believer who engages in it as a habit or lifestyle. Praying to God in the morning is a perfect way to find the needed direction for the day’s assignments. As a believer, I guess your ultimate goal is to be more like Christ. And being more like Christ in our context is about rising up early in the morning to pray to God like Him. We are told in scriptures that Jesus Christ rose up early to pray to His Father. One outstanding benefit of early morning prayer is the fact that you will use it as a platform to gain insight into God’s plans and direction for the day.
Do you know that some drinkers have developed the habit of rising up early in the morning to drink strong drinks?
The Bible says, “Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them!”
Isaiah 5:11
If drinkers rise up early in the morning to drink drinks, we should do much more! They are negatively inflamed by drinks! But we are positively inflamed by God as we talk to Him in prayers. We will always feel better when we spend time talking to God in the morning. Apart from feeling better, we will have a clear view of the day. Praying in the morning should be accompanied with the Word. Spend ten to twenty minutes reading and studying some passages of the Bible. Today, I urge you to make a commitment to pray and study the Bible daily. If possible, employ or make use of a devotional like “Lessons from my QuietTime”!
Let’s consider 5 biblical characters who engaged in early morning prayers:
1. Abraham
“And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the LORD.”
Genesis 19:27
2. Jacob
“And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.”
Genesis 28:18
3. Moses
“And be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning unto mount Sinai, and present thyself there to me in the top of the mount.”
Exodus 34:2
4. David
“My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.”
Psalms 5:3
5. Jesus

Mark 1:35
I decree and declare that you too will be listed among believers who love and engage in early morning prayers as a lifestyle in Jesus mighty name.
Yours sincerely,
