Dwelling together in Unity
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”
Psalms 133:1
God wants us to dwell together in unity as believers! He wants us to live in harmony or get along with others!
Do you know that it grieves God when we are divisive or disunited?
Do you know that it pains His heart that we cannot agree or speak with one voice? It is a shame that we as a body of Christ cannot agree on basic doctrinal beliefs. For goodness sake, why is it that in our churches, we talk more about our differences than we talk about our similarities? Until we radically change our attitude or parochial views about unity, our potential may not be realized. Unity is the solution to disunity in the church today! It is appropriate for us to live in unity because we are brothers and sisters together in Christ.
Let’s consider 3 reasons why we must embrace unity:
1. Jesus Christ prayed for unity!
“That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.”
John 17:21
Whatever Jesus prayed for, must be important to Him! He prayed to His Father, desiring that the church may be one! Any believer working against the unity of the church or family is not a true believer! He or she may be an agent of the devil! May we become instruments for the fulfilment or answer to Christ’s lofty prayers.
2. Unity is good and pleasant!
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”
Psalms 133:1
Unity is good and pleasant! Disunity on the other hand is bad and unpleasant. Do you know that it is beautiful, sweet and lovely to get along with others? Unity is key to our survival. The Bible says, “And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand.”
Matthew 12:25
3. Unity procures blessing
“As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.”
Psalms 133:3
When we live in unity, God pours out abundant blessing upon us.
Do you want God’s blessing on your life, church or family? Then decide to embrace unity.
I decree and declare that you will dwell in unity in Jesus mighty name.
Yours sincerely,
