Beware of Sinners’ Enticement
“My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.”
Proverbs 1:10
What is enticement?
Enticement is something used to attract or to tempt someone. It is
the act or practice of enticing, especially to evil. It is a bait, an inducement or seduction.
The devil’s major assignment is to engage in the act or practice of alluring or tempting us to do evil or to sin against our God. He started this business with Eve and he has not relented till date. We must be vigilant about his enticement which he carries out with the collaboration of his agents. One of the perils that we face from day to day is temptation. The word “temptation” can have two main directions of thought. Temptation can be a testing, but it also can refer to an enticement to sin. The Bible says in James 1:14, “But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.” Temptation is an appeal to think or do something contrary to God’s Word. These days we are being drawn away from truth, virtue, and God’s standard of righteousness.
Today, the world has packaged sin and made it so enticing or alluring. It takes grace of God and discipline not to long for it, crave it, covet it or want it.
To fight enticement, obey the following instructions:
1. Don’t play with Temptation!
When you play with the temptation you are in the middle of the road which leads into sin. The playing with the temptation is nothing else than your heart reaching out after the sin, the lust conceiving in your mind.
2. Don’t keep company with sinners
The truth is that if you keep company with sinners, they will influence you negatively before you know it. If you don’t want to be destroyed, stop every association with sinners.
3. Don’t hang around places!
There are places which promote enticement! Clubs and brothels promote sexual immorality. Make sure that you stay far away from places where you are usually tempted or enticed. Going to “joints” where drugs are served free, is outright foolishness.
I pray that you will not fall prey to satanic enticement or temptation in Jesus mighty name.
Yours sincerely,
