Becoming a Goal-getter
“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 3:14
Who is goal getter?
A goal getter is someone who is pressing toward the attainment of his or her goals. Apostle Paul was a goal-getter who was determined to strive toward the achievement of his ultimate goal regardless of challenges. Goal getters will stop at nothing to get what they want.
But before you can become a goal getter, you must have a goal. What is your goal? What do you want to accomplish? If you do not have a goal, it is impossible for you to become a goal-getter.
Let’s consider 3 factors that will help you to become a real goal getter:
1. Goal Setting
The first step to becoming a goal getter is to set a goal. Define what you want to achieve or accomplish.
Goal setting gives you a clear direction. It gives you a sense of where you are heading and what you want to achieve. You become lazy if you don’t have a goal to work toward.
If you have a clear-cut goal, then you are under the command of the goal you have set. A sense of direction engenders a sense of time and money management. Every person should at least have a ten-year, five-year, and one-year goals. Then you can subdivide your one-year goals into months, weeks and days! By so doing, you have a sense of compulsion to achieve your goals.
2. Determination
A determined person will always be a goal getter. How determined are you in the pursuit of your goals? There is no excuse for a determined person! After all in the kingdom of God, there are no excuses. No believer is permitted to give excuses. As all things are possible or achievable to believers! The Bible says, “Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.”
Mark 9:23
3. Take a bold action!
A real goal getter is bold! He is prepared to take action steps towards the realisation of his goals. You become a goal-getter by working toward the achievement of your goal. Yes, sometimes it may be difficult or unrealistic to accomplish your goal but don’t be perturbed. Just take small steps towards it. Achieving a small fraction of your goals is better than not achieving anything at all.
In Matthew 25, we are told about the
unprofitable servant who was cast into outer darkness because he could not accomplish any profit. Achieving nothing at all is unacceptable!
I decree and declare that you will become a real goal getter in Jesus mighty name.
